A gorgeous, fragrant floral arrangement is a real treat to give and receive at Christmas

The Flower House

West Street, Old Costessey, NR8 5AJ

Shelley Newton’s small floral arrangements in pots (pictured) start at £15, with table wreaths with fresh flowers starting at £50.

Shelley says: “It is a great time of year to have flowers in your house as it really adds to the atmosphere with the festive fragrance and colours. We do a lot of seasonal bouquets with fresh flowers and luxury door wreaths which are very rustic and stylish. We add things like cinnamon and star anise, and the smell is absolutely amazing. Throughout December I’ll be holding wreath-making workshops where you can make a fantastic decorative wreath. I provide all the materials, along with mince pies and mulled wine, and it’s a lot of fun.”

The Florist Shop

Norwich Road, Wroxham, NR12 8RZ

Rachael Pegg’s luxurious bouquets, such as this with white lilies, roses and hypercium for £55 including the vase, are a lovely gift.

“We do a lot of Advent wreaths with candles to set in the centre of the table, and also garlands of foliage that look really special trailed up a bannister. Normally the foliage in the wreaths and table centres last up to eight weeks so if you replace the flowers when they need refreshing then you have a piece which will last you right through the festive season.”

Constance Rose

The Barn, Loke Farm, Weston Longville, NR9 5LG

Florist Jo Thomas grows the flowers and foliage that she uses in her arrangements at the family farm at Weston Longville, where she has a cutting garden and wildflower meadow. For weddings, Jo - part of the British Flower Collective - will grow the bride’s choice of flowers which she cuts on the morning of the wedding to create bespoke arrangements.

The stunning centrepiece (pictured) which features hydrangea, dahlia, astrantia, toad fish lilies and eucalpytus, is £85 including the vase. Jo creates floral displays and bouquets from £25 upwards.

“I do a lot of Christmas arrangements and for shoot dinners, and I love to dress people’s homes for Christmas. I also hold seasonal workshops which are a little bit different - we pull on our wellies, take the dogs and walk around gardens and the hedgerows looking for pieces to create lovely wreaths.”
