Try rib of beef, making sure it is free-range and local. Ours is matured on the bone for four weeks, full of flavour and an amazing Christmas alternative.
A stuffed saddle of local free-range lamb is delicious. Take a boneless double loin and stuff it with prunes and apricots, perfect for a special meal. Staying with lamb, also great to try is a succulent butterfly cut leg. Marinated in olive oil, redcurrant jelly, rosemary and garlic, it is quick and easy to cook, full of flavour and great for a Christmas Eve meal.
For Christmas tea and Boxing Day, go for a honey-glazed gammon. Our dry-cured local oak-smoked gammon can be cooked on Christmas Eve with a honey glaze. Serve hot on Christmas Eve and it will leave plenty of cold leftovers for the coming days.
Try a mini hog roast. Take a free-range Old Spot succulent boneless loin of pork, it is quick to cook and super easy to carve for that amazing crackling that everyone loves.
Finally, for something a little bit more indulgent and rich – perfect for the winter weather - go for venison sirloin. Quick and easy to cook, it is incredibly succulent and can be used for steaks, noisettes or joints. It is really lovely with a red wine sauce.”
