New Cuban-style bottomless brunch menu launched at Revolucion de Cuba, Norwich

Revolucion de Cuba has launched a new menu for its weekend bottomless brunch offer. So Tania Lawrence, with a few friends, went to check it out

When we arrived at Revolucion de Cuba we were shown to our seats which were in the conservatory part of the restaurant. While a little on the warm side, it was colourfully decorated with cushioned seats and plenty of green plants embellishing the area.

For the brunch we first had a round of mimosas and a large plate of bruschetta. Topped with pancetta or avocado the appetisers provided a tasty tease for the rest of the menu that was to come.

For those who don't know how it works, with the bottomless brunch you can order one main and have a bottomless supply of the cocktails available with the brunch for your allotted two hour brunch time.

My choice of main was the Baked Beet Tortillas with pico de gallo and guacamole. The baked beet falafel was accompanied by spiced black beans. A very tasty dish and a good portion size, there was a decent amount of guacamole on the plate to mix in with the tortilla.

I also ordered sides of grilled halloumi and patatas bravas. The halloumi, for me, could have been grilled just a little more, but it was still tasty. And the bravas; beautifully cooked, that slight crispness on the outside and fluffy potato on the inside with the mildly spicy chilli sauce atop were delicious.

My fellow guests enjoyed their mains; the Breakfast Burrito, Sweetcorn Fritters and Avocado Toast were all cleaned from their plates. The Burrito was proclaimed as "Spicy but tasty and filling". The sweetcorn fritters had the same review and in particular, the side of sweet fries went down a treat. Not a fry was spared. The guest with the avocado toast enjoyed her meal but remarked that it maybe was a bit on the small side. Whilst she enjoyed the food, another slice would have been preferred.

Alongside our mains we ordered our first cocktails. My choice was an Aperol Spritz, both sweet and bitter with tastes of orange and cinnamon. Other drinks ordered throughout the brunch were Prosecco, Spanish Shandy and, the clear favourite, Strawberry Daiquiris. These cocktails are super sweet and refreshing and if it weren't for my susceptibility to brain freeze I would easily have drunk these down quite quickly. Other drinks in the brunch offer are Bloody Mary and pints of Mahou beer. Drinks not in the offer can be bought at an extra price.

To finish off the experience we had Churros with the three dipping sauces of chocolate, caramel and strawberry. Días mío! These are delicious. Still warm as we bit into the doughnut loops, the texture was beautiful. Crisp outside and melt-in-your-mouth inside with the perfect amount of sugar dusting. The sauces are beautiful, but the obvious winner for us was the caramel sauce. Smoothly sweet and a perfect pairing for the latin dessert.

To finish off we enjoyed teas and coffees whilst in a blissful contemplation of the luscious feast we had just enjoyed. Two hours is the perfect amount of time in which to leisurely make your way through this spicy, sweet and delectable journey. And if you're a fan of cocktails and latin food then this is a brilliant way to spend a weekend lunch time.
