“Because of where we live ours is more of a Brecks Christmas. For Rob, Christmas is a working day looking after our herd of Large Black pigs, so our celebrations are quite low-key. We eat in the evening once he has finished work and every year we have a Great Grove Bronze turkey, from near Attleborough, which this year will be stuffed with the Gold Award winning Old English sausage meat made from our own Scotts Field Pork by Fleetwood Butchers in Gorleston.
I normally have a few days off before Christmas so I will get all my vegetables from Mark’s Greengrocers in Brandon. They make a huge effort to source as much as they can locally.
Christmas cake is made by my mum and with our coffee we will have Maggie’s homemade chocolate truffles which are available from CoCoes Café Deli in Swaffham.
We always try to get up to the coast on Boxing Day so we have another simple meal. We love roasted shoulder of Scotts Field Pork served with salads and chutneys. The perfect accompaniment is the Elveden apple mead and hop sauce. Pavlova is our favourite pudding and it will be made, if I can find them in the freezer, with frozen raspberries from our neighbour, Richard Scott’s garden.”
