Five top festive tipples to raise a cheer this Christmas.
“We import our own Prosecco, therefore no one else has it,” says Sue. “It is especially good and is very popular. We serve it as a cocktail, with sugar and Angostura bitters. Another lovely alternative is to serve it with the fabulous Norfolk Cordials – we find it goes so well with the strawberry and lime, elderflower or the rhubarb, orange and ginger.
Another timeless tipple is the ever popular gin and tonic. The Adnams First Rate Gin is superb, served with lots of ice, a twist of fresh lime, and Fever Tree tonic.
For Yuletide in a glass, try Morgan Spiced Rum with warmed Apple Juice. Damson Vodka, which is warming and smooth, is delicious on its own, or can be severed with Prosecco to make a fabulous damson royale.
Finally, and of course never to be forgotten, traditional mulled wine is a must. The aromas are so Christmassy.
Working in a pub, by the time we get to Christmas day we are both a little fed up with turkey, so we like to have a treat, maybe oysters or scallops. We also love Spanish style Tapas, especially Boquerones marinated anchovies, or Coquinas, Spanish for cockles. We have them in the shell, cooked quickly with white wine and garlic. Fantastic with fresh crusty bread and a lovely chilled bottle of Pouilly Fume.”
