Steeped in centuries of history, surrounded by vast woodland and just half an hour from Norwich, Thetford and neighbouring Brandon are the perfect location for families, couples and commuters alike.

With the A11 on your doorstep, you can be in London within 90 minutes and Cambridge within 45 minutes via road or rail. Both towns are framed by the wild beauty and very distinct landscape of Thetford Forest and the Brecks, and the River Little Ouse runs through the communities creating picturesque waterside walkways and open spaces to explore.

Thetford is a large town which combines fascinating historic sites and ancient buildings with modern development to create a bustling community. There is a good array of both independent shops and national chains, supermarkets and a selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is also a twice weekly market in front of the Guildhall every Tuesday and Saturday with a wide variety of stalls. Neighbouring Brandon is smaller but still has a traditional high street providing all the amenities you need.

Nearby Elveden Estate offers a great range of produce in its shop and you can combine your food shopping with a coffee or lunch in its popular courtyard café.

When it comes to choosing a property in the area, there is plenty of choice, whether you are searching for a beautiful old period property, a spacious bungalow, a modern family home or a new executive luxury detached property. Later this year, a new community will begin to take shape on the edge of Thetford which will provide more than 5000 new homes. Kingsfleet will also feature new primary schools, parkland, allotments, a health centre and new cycle and pedestrian routes.

The area is a fantastic place to live for those who love an active lifestyle, with a leisure centre and swimming pool, golf club and plenty of clubs, sports teams, and outdoor activities to enjoy. Thetford Forest, run by the Forestry Commission, is on the doorstep offering excellent mountain bike trails, walks, woodland play areas for adventurous kids.

The neighbouring Brandon Country Park covers 30 acres of managed parkland, with a famous arboretum, a mausoleum, lawns and pond, a historic walled garden and miles of nature trails. There are events throughout the year for nature lovers, families and walkers alike.

Nearby, much of Knettishall Heath is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) covering woodland, riverside meadows and a large areas of heath. It is also a great place to access the Peddars Way footpath, the perfect starting spot to explore more of this fascinating landscape.
