What’s been your career path?

Having worked in shops, bars and restaurants since leaving school, I became a manager for J D Wetherspoon in several of their pubs in Norwich and Essex. Since then I have worked on the management teams at Byfords of Holt, Butlers of Holt as well as The Hoste in Burnham Market. I also became assistant manager of the Adnams Cellar and Kitchen Store in Holt. In 2008 I set up my own company, Alfresco Mobile Bars, and in 2012 added catering to our services. I now offer an event coordinator service, organising not only bars and catering but details such as marquees, toilets, transport, electricity and entertainment.

In the office, your three biggest challenges?

All my staff and I know that a bride and groom’s wedding day is the most important day of their lives, not to say expensive. My biggest challenge is to make sure that my clients’ vision of their perfect day becomes reality.

I am passionate about good food and drink – when we cater for any function we make everything on the menu using local seasonal ingredients when possible, and I normally find that we can keep the price down as well.

The biggest challenge for me is competition. When I first started the company there were no more than six other bar companies in Norfolk; now there are endless companies offering a service. The challenge for me is to make sure that we constantly improve our service, offer and give people a fantastic experience, though this has always been my motto in the 22 years I have been in the industry

Our of office, your three favourite pastimes?

I love getting in my kitchen and cooking my wife Beth a romantic meal. She also loves my homemade bread so I try to make some once a week. I love watching all sports especially football. Norwich City is my team but I don’t get to watch them too often as Saturdays are normally busy for me. And I love gardening – there is nothing better than combining a visit to Fakenham Garden Centre to look for new plants and to have one of their full English breakfasts, it sets me up for the day.

First record – and what are you listening to today?

It would have been Adam and the Ants, probably Prince Charming. I like all music – I wake up with Classic FM but my favourite track of the year is Happy by Pharrell Williams.

First car – and what do you drive now?

My first car was a dark blue Metro. I have a Citroen C2 VTR at the moment.

What’s your exercise of choice?

Although I do not do a lot of exercise, my bars and stock weigh quite a lot and I probably lift a couple of tons every week. My wife and I do like to go for walks around the Norfolk countryside.

Where is your dream holiday?

We go to Turkey every year, same resort, same hotel; it’s our perfection! But I’m not telling you where it is or you will all want to go.

Favourite place in Norfolk?

Holt with out a doubt, I was born and bred there and it has everything.
