Interior designer Morag Christy is a self-confessed lover of glamorous handbags – but when it comes to everyday life, practicality comes first. She moved to Norfolk 10 years ago with her business Silver Leaf Interiors, based in Holt.

“I worked as a flight attendant for many years, which is when I developed my love of beautifully designed clothes and bags. When I finished, I started a high-end fashion business but when a friend asked me to help me with some interiors work as she thought I had a good eye for colour. I really enjoyed it and my business grew from there.

“My clients are really varied and all want something different, which I love, but my job always remains the same - to get them where they want to be.”

Her work bag – currently an olive green design from Jaeger – needs to accommodate her notes and equipment, including her trusty iPad and tape measure.

“I do love handbags and my favourites are my three classic Chanel bags which I bought in the 1980s. They have been the most amazing investment and never ever go out of fashion.”

Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick, exotic, £25

I have used Chanel since my flying days, the quality is amazing. When I was working as a flight attendant I won a competition to visit Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment, I was only 18 and I think that was when I fell in love with the brand.

Stanley five-metre steel tape measure, £6.99.

I carry one everywhere and like it to be at least five metres. There is always something I need to measure when I am working on a project, so I need to know it is there at hand.

Anya Hindmarsh metallic make-up bag, £140.

This was a gift from a friend and I really love it. It feels really tactile and is a great size and shape. I don’t use much make-up so this is perfect for my blusher, lipstick and the few bits I have.

Chanel sunglasses, white £150.

I absolutely love sunglasses and have all sorts of pairs. These white ones are my favourites though, they are classics. I bought them in France about three years ago when I was skiing.

Orla Kiely wallet, £99.

I bought it about four years ago as I needed a big, practical purse. I always have so many work receipts, so I stuff them in there rather than leaving them loose everywhere in my bag.

A little something else . . .

I always have a little first aid bag, full of all sorts, such as Lemsip, headache tablets, plasters, anti-allergy medicine and a wasp sting treatment. I like that friends now ask me if I’ve got a plaster or tablet, as in the past it was always me asking them.
